At DS Masonry our small team has extensive experience in all aspects of Stonemasonry, specialising heavily in restoration projects. Our deep understanding of Lime Mortars and historical buildings allow us to authentically restore and maintain the integrity of aging structures. Our team recently completed an extensive restoration project, breathing new life into a historic structure. The meticulous process began with the careful removal of old cement pointing, followed by a deep cleaning of the original stonework. We then repointed the building using traditional lime mortar, ensuring both historical accuracy and structural integrity.
The chimneys underwent a complete overhaul, with our skilled team stripping them down and replacing damaged stones. Each new stone was hand-dressed on site to match the existing aesthetic. We also created numerous new openings, both inside and outside the building, seemlessly integrating them with the original design.
Finally, all the sandstone sills, lintels and jambs were meticulously dressed by hand on site and extensive stone repairs were carried out to restore the buildings former glory. This project stands as a testament to our teams dedication to preserving architectural heritage through expert craftsmanship.
